CENTELLA ASIATICA (GOTU KOLA) EXTRACT

Centella asiatica, also sometimes referred to as Brahmi and Indian Pennywort, is a small creeping herb that is native to Asia but now cultivated in other tropical and temperate swampy parts of Africa and the US. Centella asiatica is most popularly known by its Sri Lankan name: Gotu Kola. It is an aquatic plant and is easily found growing along streams, in rice paddy fields and other boggy surroundings.

Gotu Kola contains pentacyclic triterpenoids, including Asiaticoside, Brahmoside, Asiatic Acid, and Brahmic Acid (Madecassic Acid) and is used in products for irritated and sensitive skin. This product promotes collagen type I and III synthesis. Asiatic Centella Extract is recommendable to formulate cosmetic products with vessel protection, venotonic and anti-cellulite activities. It is also recommendable to formulate cosmetic products for the protection of skin and hair against oxidative processes.

FENNEL SWEET OIL

Our organically crafted Fennel Essential Oil is steam distilled from the wildcrafted small, aromatic seeds of the flowering Foeniculum vulgare dulce herb growing in the Hungarian countryside. Aromatically, Sweet Fennel Essential Oil is a middle note possessing a fresh, sweet, earthy, spicy, anise-like aroma and is often used in natural perfumery to help round out aromatic blends. It blends especially well with other Herbal & Ayurvedic Product > Essential & Aromatic Oils in the citrus, mint, wood and spice families.

There are two types of Fennel Herbal & Ayurvedic Product > Essential & Aromatic Oils: Bitter/Common Fennel (F. vulgare var. amara) and Sweet Fennel (F. vulgare var. dulce). They differ chemically in that the Bitter Fennel Oil contains between 15 – 23% of the ketone fenchone, and hence should be avoided in aromatherapy and home use. It is only the Sweet Fennel Oil that is used in aromatherapy. CALENDULA EXTRACT

Calendula Flower Extract is a natural extract of the flowers of Calendula Officinalis. Due to the presence of polysaccharides (mucilage), flavonoids (especially quercetrin-3-O-glycoside), triterpenes, phenol acids, tannins and carotenes, which act on the metabolism of glycoproteins and on collagen fibers, Calendula Extract is highly recommendable to formulate cosmetic products with tissue regeneration action.

Calendula officinalis is an aromatic annual plant belonging to the Asteraceae (Compositae) family native to the Mediterranean area, although it is widely spread throughout the world as an ornamental plant. Calendula flowers have anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It has been used to treat dry or damaged skin, heal wounds, burns, eczema and other inflammatory skin conditions.

Rich in flavonoids and saponins, Calendula Extract can help promote healing and repair and prevent tissue degeneration. ARNICA EXTRACT

Arnica Extract is derived from Arnica montana, a perennial mountain plant belonging to the family Asteraceae, indigenous to mountainous regions of Central Europe. It is a protected species in the wild, but plants for herbal remedies and cosmetic extracts are specially cultivated for these purposes. Arnica montana also known as Leopard’s Bane, Wolf’s Bane and Mountain Tobacco, grows from mountains to alpine meadows and pastures and in light forests up to the alpine level.

The word arnica comes from the Greek arnakis meaning ‘lamb’s coat’ and refers to the felt-like sepals covered in soft hairs that surround the flower. A native plant on the European continent and in Siberia, Arnica has been used extensively in European folk medicine since the 1500s and has been listed in the European Pharmacopoeia as a treatment for swelling and skin bruises. It is often the first remedy used for injuries such as sprains and bruises.

Some of the chemical constituents of Arnica that contribute to its vulnerary and anti-inflammatory properties include sesquiterpene lactones, flavonoids, thymol, mucilage and arnicin. As a result of its vulnerary (increase wound healing) and anti-inflammatory properties, Arnica has been used topically for a wide range of conditions, including muscles aches, superficial phlebitis, rheumatic pain, inflammation from insect bites and swelling due to fractures.
